I don’t care……
A place where many of us truly want to get to…..a place where we are unaffected by the opinion of others and we live our true and authentic selves….oblivious to what others think.
But are we really there yet?
Often these words ‘shout out’ to me, that in fact the person cares very much.
It’s not what people say, or do to us that make us feel that way, it’s our ‘reaction’ to that person’s words or actions. Our internal ‘reaction’ can be the sole responsible reason that this so called opinion or action becomes a negative. By our own thinking and internal reaction we can create a spiral of negative or re-occurring thinking that ‘feeds’ it…..and then we want to blast the world and let everyone know how little we care, or we withdraw and toughen up and push people away who actually really do care for us. We act more outrageously or more withdrawn, to protect our heart. Essentially we hurt ourselves more than any other person’s words or actions can.
When we truly don’t care, we’ll know. There will be no need to justify, to blast it to the world, we won’t take things the wrong way or personally…..but most importantly….we won’t close down our heart, we won’t want to protect it because we won’t need to protect it. What a lovely place to be. A place where we attract more love into our lives, from the least expected places….
An example of how our mind can go one way or the other can be seen here. You don’t have blue hair, someone comes up to you and says “I don’t like your blue hair”….. most likely this won’t get a rise out of you, you probably just think that persons is a bit ‘coo coo’, think nothing more of it and you get on with your day…..but just say you do have blue hair…..then your mind starts thinking, ‘reacting’, doubting, questioning, getting offended and declaring you ‘don’t care’ what they think! What was different? You wouldn’t have said “I don’t care!” if you didn’t have blue hair.
Be your true and authentic self as much as you can, question what arises within your mind and your heart when you proclaim those words to the world, a loved one or friend. If there is emotion attached, you care. And that’s OK, you have a heart for a reason.
We are all works in progress and we all want different things from life but the one thing we all want, is to be loved. Hardening our hearts isn’t a great way to allow that love into your life.
Here’s to eventually getting to that ‘true’ place of not caring, with our hearts intact.I don’t care….
