Meet our November cover teachers!

Next week I’ll be away for a friend’s 40th 🍸🙏🤣 I am very fortunate and grateful to have two amazing teachers to cover some of my classes while I’m away. The lovely Karen (pictured below) will be taking my week day classes for me… Wed 10am and Fri 10am. (15th and 17th respectively) A little bit about Karen…. Karen began her yoga practice almost 20 years ago when she was diagnosed with arthritis in L1, L2 and L3. She had a new baby and was only in her mid twenties. Unfortunately the arthritis had a major impact on her well-being, with difficulty moving most days, sleeping was difficult and it impeded her ability to work and look after her baby well. The chiropractor didn’t help much so one day Karen picked up a yoga video and did both sessions in that day. That night she slept like she had never slept before and woke up the next morning feeling great. Karen hasn’t stopped doing yoga since. She has tried many different types of classes including Kundalini, hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Anti-gravity, Iyengar, Hot Yoga, Bikram and Yin. Karen travelled to India to do her yoga teacher training at the Shiva Shakti yoga school in Goa. She learned to teach traditional Hatha yoga. Karen felt this was the right style for her to learn to teach. Karen says: ‘That doesn’t mean that I don’t still love all the other styles. They each have something unique and wonderful to offer.’ Yoga for Karen is integral to her health and well-being. Yoga has assisted her at some of the more difficult times of her life. She finds it essential for her mental health, and with mental focus. She completed two university degrees whilst raising a child and is pretty sure that yoga was key to getting everything done and concentrating. ‘It’s hard to imagine my life without yoga.’ I am also very grateful to have Fotini to cover my 7am Saturday class (18th) A little bit about Fotini Fotini is a fun, creative and passionate yoga teacher, who specialises in classes for adults, pre and post-natal women, children and teenagers, as well as yoga correctives.
